Box & 1 Defense
[A Coach Reggie Production, 2005]

Similar concepts to the 1-2-2, but the player at the top follows one specific player and guards him/her everywhere that individual go. This is used when the other team has one extremely strong player. The person guarding the one player must constantly stay in the passing lane and deny that player of getting the pass every time. When the offensive player who is being guarded everywhere is in the post, it is important that the person playing defense on him/her has a good defensive stance, denying the pass in. He/she should keep changing his/her defensive stance from high, low, etc. all the while staying in the passing lane, so that it is extremely difficult for the guard to attempt a pass into the post.
