If it was about ability, people would be ripping that ball off in equal distance to the rim or above the rim. The best way to rebound would be to catch the ball after it has bounced on the floor. The ONLY way this is possible is if EVERYONE on the team boxes out until the ball hits the floor.

Every player on Coach Reggie’s teams have ALWAYS shot 100%… Want to know why? Every missed shot is a pass to another player. You should be prepared constantly to box out then go for the rebound.

Make sure that after you rebound on defense you protect the ball and look for the outlet. AAU, as well as many other leagues and levels, allow full court press. This means, anyone can try and take the ball from you after you rebound it.

If you see someone shoot the ball while you’re on defense, yell “Shot!” Your teammates will hear this and realize that they have to box out.
