Some believe it’s a great idea to play with the “Echo System.” For example, the coach tells one player the play and that player echoes it to the rest of the team. Or, a shot goes up and one player yells, “Shot!” Everyone who hears that echoes it and also yells, “Shot!”

Contest all shots! It’s OK for a player to score on you… as long as you tried your hardest not to allow that basket.

When you first catch the ball, land on two feet. That way you can choose your pivot foot.

While in woman-to-woman / man-to-man defense and your player has the ball, watch your player’s mid-section. Her arms, legs, ball, and head will turn in all directions (trying to throw you off), but her mid-section can’t go anywhere without her.
