Basketball Tips - #9

James Naismith once said, “Basketball was meant to be played, not coached.”

On a fast break, these should be your primary options (in this order): 1)uncontested lay-up, 2)uncontested short jump shot, 3)contested shot that is close to the basket, 4)uncontested 3 point shot if there is someone from your team below to rebound and he/she is not in a position to get a pass from you.

On fast breaks, try to out-run everyone and be open for the pass.

While on the fast break remember this: passing is faster than dribbling.

During the fast break, spread out, don’t run near a teammate. This makes it more difficult for the defense to guard and makes passing more effective.
